Injection moulding

We provide sustainable, small-scale manufacturing services in the UK with lower setup fees and quicker turn around times than commercially manufactured plastic products.

Each product is unique, as every one is measured, mixed, melted, injected and finished by hand.

Working with recycled plastic stock from various sources always brings us new surprises! We test each mould, new plastic stock, colours, and develop a bespoke manufacturing package for each of our clients.

It’s hard to accurately quote a price for your product until we have your mould in hand, but once we have the ability to test it, we always offer a fair price to help our clients build their sustainable businesses. We also strive to pay our team members a real living wage and most of the cost of production is found in the time it takes to sort, shred, mix, inject and hand finish every single product. That’s what makes our methods unique to other plastic manufacturers.

additional services to help launch your ideas

  • product design

Have an idea, but no clue where to start? We can translate your sketches and specifications to a 3D design.

  • prototyping

Get a 3D printed sample of your product so you can get an accurate representation of what the final size and shape will be. This method doesn’t allow us to capture the colours that we can attain using recycled plastic, but it will get you closer to realising your final product.

  • Mould prototyping

We have the capability to quick test some products using a 3D print the mould. Offering small production runs and prototyping before moving to the final aluminium mould.

  • Colour Alchemy

Working to bring your inspiration to life, we’ll mix up the recycled plastic to develop a colour to match your vision. Nothing is added apart from the plastic and every source of plastic behaves differently, so we spend a lot of time making sure it’s just right.

FAQ

Some quick answers here to get you started, but we’e always happy to jump on a call. So either pull together the items found in ‘getting started’ or reach out with further questions.

  • Pull together a pdf, word doc, Pinterest board, or folder to share with us. Include examples, general sizing and shapes, specific design features and any other necessary requirements of what you would like us to produce.

We’d also love to know what quantities you’re looking at to get started and timelines you’re shooting for.

  • Once we’ve seen your ideas and asked follow up questions, we’ll schedule a call with you to discuss your idea.

  • We charge £50 per hour for our services. You are welcome to design your own product or work with another designer, however we still may need to do some final tweaks. We generally recommend that we handle your mould design as we make it specific to our system.

  • The cost of a mould is dependent on the size and complexity of your design. Most of the moulds in use cost between £500 and £2000. Please note, our system allows for a lower setup cost compared to commercial tooling, which starts around £5,000 for similar products. We can give you an accurate mould cost only once we’ve designed the mould, but will talk ballpark numbers on your consultation call.

  • The cost of a 3D printed sample prototype or mould is also dependent on your design. This step is not required, however often recommended, before purchasing a metal mould. A 3D printed sample can cost anywhere from £50 to £200 and we will do our best to get you the best price with a quick turnover.

  • We cannot accurately price production costs until we have your mould. In order to help you project numbers we recommend assuming £5-6 per unit for single cavity moulds and £3-4 per unit for multi cavity moulds.

  • Production time is affected by numerous aspects including mould design, plastic type, number of colours in mix, finishing processes, quality checking, number of moulds, mould material, etc.

Once we get to know your product, mould, and quantities required we’ll be able to set timelines with you.

These numbers are provided to help you establish an understanding of our prices and are subject to a quotation request that is sent to compare available offers and does not imply entering into a legally binding contract. Pricing is approximate until final sizes and moulds can be created and tested. We do our best to keep our prices fair to all parties involved, your success means our success, we are a real living wage employer.
