Rise of the plastic Artisans

Many thanks to the National Festival of Making for featuring us in Season 4 of Art in Manufacturing when we were still Precious Plastic Lancaster. The film was beautifully captured by Sodium Films.

Filmed back in December 2020, we didn’t realise what opportunities it would lead to - Including the location of our new Recycled Plastic Foundry!

Our Team

  • Martin Paley

    Co-Director

From sourcing new recycled plastic waste streams to planning production and hosting workshops, Martin runs the show. If you thought plastic wasn’t exciting before, he’ll somehow make a believer out of you. He’s the OG colour alchemist and is great at coming up with solutions on the spot.

  • Kiki Kornblatt Callihan

    Co-Director

If you want to design and produce your own recycled plastic products, order plant pots for your shop, invite us to run an event, plan a workshop, or have an art/community project in mind, Kiki will sort you out. She’s very fond of a skip dive and creative direction of new projects.

  • Ash Hughes

    Ash Hughes

    Production Team

Ash is the go with the flow, make-it-happen-with-a-smile positive energy in the Foundry. She’s always happy to offer a hand and carry out work with a keen eye to detail. Ash sets herself challenges to learn skills and grow and she’s particularly great at keeping us packrats organised.

  • Timo Makower

    Timo Makower

    Production Team

Timo was our first employee back in the garage days, before we even knew what Relic would become. He’s returned to us after uni and is especially keen to work with the recycled plastic sheet press. He slings hot 20+ kg sheets out of the press without breaking a sweat and brings his knowledge and interest in woodworking to the task of finishing the sheets.

Verified workspace

We are a Precious Plastic verified workspace.

The wider Precious Plastic community exists to reduce plastic waste. Sometimes we do it through boosting recycling. Sometimes through new biodegradable materials. Some other time by adopting zero waste lifestyles. Whatever works.

Our solutions see people as the key element to fix the plastic mess.
Precious Plastic approaches count on people to bring about the necessary change.

Small steps, multiplied by millions. That's where we can win our battle.
We don't believe in techno-utopian, fix-it-all, dream technology.

Precious Plastic is a combination of people, machines, platforms and knowledge to create an alternative global recycling system.

Everyone can join the Precious Plastic Universe (yes you too!).
